A Study on the Cognitive Level on Fermented Milk among Koreans


Abstract
In order to investigate the cognitive level of our nationals on the fermented milk, a questionnaire has been prepared and distributed against 4,003 people from 3,771 households purchasing the commercial fermented milk at 4 large cities of Seoul, Pusan, Kwangju and Daejun, and the followings were found as a result of investigation;
(1) The age level of the fermented milk drinkers was 44.97% in childhood group 19.28% in elementary school students group; 10.12% in secondary school students group; 12.44% in youth group; and 4.95% in the well-advanced age group.
(2) As a result of investigation on what they think of the fermented milk, 53.8% of ¢¥the subjects were those who recognized it as a health food; 32.0% as a nutrient food; 8.1% as a soft drink; and 6.176 as a refresher respectively.
(3) The motives to drink the fermented milk were appeared to be effects on health in 36.3%: persuasion of sellers in 23.1%; recommendation., by the experienced in 25.9%; persuasion by doctors or pharmacy in 4.0%; and with no particular reasons in 10.7%.
(4) The effects of drinking fermented milk thought to be directly resulted on health were care of constipation or diarrhea in 39.2%; easy to digest in 36.3%; relief from fatigue, skin beauty and growth effect in 8.3%; and prevention of food poisoning in 5.9% respectively.
(5) The cognitive levels of fermented milk were investigated to be 22.0% in the level of "Know well"; 59.2% in "Know a Little"; 7.2% in "Know Nothing"; and 11.6% in "Eager to Drink" respectively.
